My Story
I became an adult at the age of 3, when my parents divorced in Cuernavaca, Mexico. The youngest of three sisters, daughters of an alcoholic father, I became my mom's emotional support, picking up her emotional pieces until her death at age 54. The journey was rough: most of the time in financial struggle, always in emotional upheaval and instability, going through life's rapids with hardly any time to come out for air.
Despite the moments I felt trapped in a life that didn't seem to get any better, of sadness, angst, and depression, I was determined that my circumstances were not going to dictate my life, how I experience it, or how I feel about it. I put myself through college while having a full-time job, moved to the US to complete graduate programs, became a professor, trainer and leadership coach, started a family, and allowed the artist in me to come out; but most importantly, I never gave up on myself. I attended innumerable workshops and read countless books to figure out how to loosen the grip of what I made of my past, how to thrive and transform it into possibilities, how to let my life’s purpose guide my steps.

I left my tenure position and relocated to pursue my dreams, which include helping you create a life you love. I want you to know in your bones that even when we feel broken to pieces, we are whole; when we feel lost, we are home; when we feel alone, we are being carried.
I created the Opening HEARTS Academy for you. It’s a place to learn, un-learn, re-learn, transform, transmute, create, re-invent ourselves, grow, laugh, and support each other in our journeys. Would you let me share it with you?
